The long gestating "Criminal Minds" spin-off "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" made its debut to decent ratings but uneven reviews. Can the show finally find its footing (and audience) in its second episode?

Loyal "Criminal Minds" fans have already been introduced to the "Beyond Borders" team way back in season 10 when they worked with the BAU on one case. The team returns mostly intact, aside from the addition of "Forever" alum Alana de la Garza as linguist Clara Seger. The show's first episode saw the International Response Team (IRT), headed by Jack Garrett (Gary Sinise), traveling to Thailand after three American volunteers disappeared.

The premiere episode gave fans a taste of what the show is about, as well as a brief glimpse of the characters' lives and background. The second episode hopes to build on that with another troubling case. A synopsis for episode 2, "Harvested," hints of dire things ahead when an American man wakes up after participating in a festival in Mumbai and discovers that his kidney had been harvested and his friend missing. The evidence soon leads the International Response Team to believe that the UnSub is doing more than just trading organs in the Black Market.

The trailer for the upcoming episode hints at some of the problems the team will be facing when they head to Mumbai. The trailer starts at the scene of a big outdoor party. As the clip explains that the team rescues Americans who go missing abroad, several young people are seen having fun. Garrett describes the victims as "two kids just looking to have a good time." The team's resident tech analyst, Monty (Tyler James Williams), explains that the teens were enjoying Mumbai several days ago when "they fell off the grid." Garrett and Seger discuss the case with a Mumbai detective and she states that finding the missing teen is like "finding a needle in a haystack" considering there are 1 million people in the city. But the team appears to have a suspect, but when confronted, he throws a kerosene lamp on the floor, quickly igniting the area. The trailer ends with Garrett warning the UnSub of the consequences if another person dies.

"Beyond Borders" is the second "Criminal Minds" spin-off and CBS is no doubt hoping the show will do better than the canceled "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour." Variety reported that the show's premiere had 8.65 million viewers. However, the show will be facing tough competition in the future when shows like "Chicago P.D" return with fresh episodes.

"Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" will air its second episode on March 23.
