As much as the gaming community is excited for the sequel to "Destiny," new reports state that the unofficial title will now be moved to a 2017 release, giving players more time to speculate and debate on what the second installment will have to offer.

In a statement on Bungie's official website early last month, the team said, "The team is focused on delivering a large expansion later this year, and a full Destiny sequel in 2017." That being said, it would be safe to conclude that fans shouldn't expect the second installment very soon since the team will apparently work on the expansion set probably before the holidays of this year, before they put the spotlight on "Destiny 2."

There are very few details about the unannounced sequel, but fans around the globe were quick to speculate on what the next title will focus on.

One of the hottest rumors is that of Osiris being the main character in the sequel. Tech Insider describes Osiris as a lost warlock who has never been shown in the franchise. Although there is a multiplayer tournament titled "Trials of Osiris," probably in honor of the warlock, it is unknown what he looks like or what exactly he accomplished to be honored with a tournament under his name.

Other reports suggest that he is similar to the famed and beloved teacher in "Star Wars," Obi-Wan Kenobi. If this is true, it would only be reasonable that a sequel be centered on Osiris since he is obviously someone worthy of comparison to the great "Star Wars" mentor.

According to the outlet, the Grimoire describes Osiris as a warlock who disappeared after creating a group of followers whom he obviously trained to become warlocks like him. He was exiled to a temple in Mercury for reasons that could possibly be detailed once the sequel releases.

Osiris is basically out of the picture in the franchise, but it is rumored that he might return in the second game since he has been attributed to several times already.

"Destiny 2" is expected to release sometime in 2017.
