'Dragon Ball Super' episode 73 spoilers, news: Gohan gets dragged into a movie with Mr. Satan

With things heating up between Son Goku and Hit, it may be high time to cool down at least for one episode and sit back while relaxing. This is exactly the path the anime is taking with episode 73 of "Dragon Ball Super."
According to Dragon Ball translator Todd Blankenship, the upcoming episode's synopsis reads, "An unexpected turn of events makes Gohan's day! A movie is being made about the dream showdown, Great Saiyaman vs Mister Satan! An actor named Barry Kahn was supposed to play Great Saiyaman, but while filming a dangerous scene, Gohan offers himself as a potential substitute!! I'll never abide evil!! It's the champion of justice, Great Saiyaman!! Starring in a movie with Mister Satan?!"
Basing on that description, episode 73 is obviously going to be a show filler. In order to set a lighter mood after the many heart-stopping battles, Gohan is about to star alongside his father-in-law, Mr. Satan, which therefore promises to be a well-deserved comical break.
Fans of the series know Mr. Satan as the funny and boisterous self-proclaimed master martial artist. When the going gets tough, he can be seen cowering in the corner, but impressively feigns bravery in front of the camera. If anything, he does provide great words of encouragement, but he is mostly remembered for being the series' comic relief.
Fillers are a thing for most anime series and manga adaptations. For one, it keeps the mood light so as to be appreciated by all audiences. Furthermore, it can be a move to ensure the upcoming episodes that continue the main storyline are made the best way possible, buying time for its production.
"Dragon Ball Super" episode 73 is titled "Gohan Gets Made Into A Movie?!" and is set to air in Japan on Jan. 8, 2017 on Fuji TV at 10 p.m. ET.
