A woman of means is murdered and Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan (Lucy Liu) have to track down her killer in the upcoming episode of the CBS series "Elementary."

In "Up to Heaven and Down to Hell," Hollywood Hills reports that the dynamic duo will be tapped to investigate the death of a socialite who made headlines when it became known that all her considerable wealth have been left to her dog. Aside from congratulating the lucky canine, Sherlock and Joan must find out who hated her enough to kill her. Is the murderer a disappointed relative who had high hopes of inheriting a lot of dough? The pair will have to discover for themselves.

Meanwhile, Joan will unintentionally cause problem between Captain Gregson (Aidan Quinn) and his secret girlfriend, who will be played by guest star Virginia Madsen. The actress' character is said to be a former New York Police Department (NYPD) officer and is obviously insecure of Gregson's love for her. Perhaps the whole "let's keep this relationship hush hush" has made her doubt her boyfriend's intention. Seeing him interacting with an attractive woman, someone whom he sees almost every day, must have set her off. Will Joan have to play cupid in the end?

Last episode, an old woman was being suspected of killing three Chinese members of a local gang. At first, clues point out to a rival mob being the shooter. The investigation came out negative; same with the hunch that fellow Snake Eye Boys got a bit too carried away with their shooting practice. When an old lady costume was found in a trash bin near the crime scene, Sherlock and Joan determined that someone disguised himself to get close enough to the victims to kill them. DNA analysis revealed that the person they were looking for was a Caucasian man.

It turned out that the local mortician wanted to get back at the local gang for busting his business. In the past, he reported that one of the bodies he performed postmortem on died of drug overdose, thereby exposing the mob's true colors to the authorities. The mortician was suffering from a deadly disease and doctors gave him about a year to live. He figured he would not lose anything if he went after some of the gang members to get revenge.

"Elementary" season 4 airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
