Jamal (Jussie Smollett) will continue to suffer due to his family's affairs in the upcoming season of "Empire." He once said he will not sing anymore unless Lucious (Terrence Howard) and the rest lay their bitterness to rest. Will he be able to pick the microphone again?

Previously, showrunner Ilene Chaiken told TVLine that Jamal was serious with his threat. He will indeed stop making music if the Lyons will continue to fight each other. He even refused to sing during his father's controversial wedding with Anika (Grace Gealey). It has already been teased that Jamal's plight for the new installment would be full of hurdles. Last time, he was shot by his friend, Freda Gatz (Bre-Z), when she tried to kill Lucious. The incident will allegedly continue to haunt Jamal. He trusted Freda and even if he was aware of his father's shortcomings, he would not allow such a thing to happen. If he continues to be stubborn with his ultimatum, what will happen to him now?

"The question now is, can Jamal also bring his brothers and his mother along with him on this stance, and say 'This is no longer how we have to go about our lives and our business? ... [Season 3 will be about] really examining the journey of Jamal's recovery. In the finale, he comes out of the hospital after being shot, but he's clearly not recovered physically, and certainly not psychically," the executive producer teased.

Meanwhile, it still remains unclear who will die in the violent scuffle between Anika and Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday). Speculations point out to Andre's (Trai Byers) wife dying, though. Latin Post discusses what is bound to happen next now that Anika is already Lucious' wife, if she lives. Aside from irritating Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) to death, Anika will reportedly use the baby she is carrying to her advantage. She will probably want a huge share of Empire. Will Cookie let her succeed?

"Empire" season 3 is expected to return on Sept. 21, Wednesday, at 9 p.m. EDT on FOX.
