'Frozen 2' release date update: Kristen Bell reveals long process before she is able to record

(Disney)"Frozen 2" to start production sometime March

"Frozen" fans were thrilled when one of the animated movie's stars, Kristen Bell, announced that production on "Frozen 2" would start sometime in March. However, given the long process in making an animated movie, fans may have to wait for at least a year before the film is released.

Disney initially announced "Frozen" in 2011 and the animated movie was subsequently released in 2013. Given that "Frozen 2" was officially confirmed during a shareholders meeting last March 2015, the sequel isn't expected to arrive until sometime in 2017.

Bell also revealed that despite the massive success of "Frozen," Disney and its team decided to take its time with confirming the sequel to make sure that they had a vision and story for "Frozen 2."

"The story is great, and they exude quality. What I know about that whole team is that they wouldn't just put something out to put it out. That's why it took them so long to even announce that we were doing a second one," the actress told Collider last month.

While official story details are still being kept under wraps, co-director Chris Buck previously teased that viewers will get to see more of Elsa's fun personality in the upcoming sequel.

While doing promotions for "The Boss" this week, Bell provided another update for the upcoming sequel. While "Frozen 2" is already in development, the actress revealed that she has not yet begun recording.

"No, there's such a long process that's involved before I come in to record. I'm privy to a lot of it, though, and it's an exciting process even for me. I'm as much of a 'Frozen' fan as anybody else. I'm happy to be staying with that family," she told ComingSoon.net.

With still at least a year to go until "Frozen 2," details about the sequel remain scant. Hopefully, Bell will continue to provide fans updates in the coming weeks and months.
