Honor 5X vs Nexus 6P: Honor has better price but Google device has better features

With the Honor 5X from Huawei arriving in the United States, bigger and costlier smartphones have found that they have to face off against a new competitor. Here is how last year's Nexus 6P from Google compares to the device from Huawei.

Design

Comparing design, it is easy to see that these two devices have similar builds. The Honor 5X has a metal body and rounded edges and it has consistently been classified as a device with a good build. Additionally, it has a fingerprint scanner on its back panel and in terms of colors, it comes with three options: white, gold and black. As for the Nexus 6P, it too has a metal unibody that is only broken at the back where a longitudinal portion of glass juts out from its body. The glass covers the camera and next to it is a fingerprint scanner. Finally, in terms of colors, the Nexus 6P comes in graphite, aluminum and frost.

Display

Here, the Nexus 6P has a unbeatable edge as it has a bigger and better quality version that consist of an AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 518 pixels per inch. On the Honor 5X is an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 401 pixels per inch.

Specs

In terms of hardware, the device from Google has the faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset coupled with an octa-core CPU and an Adreno 430 GPU. On the Honor 5X is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset coupled with an octa-core CPU and an Adreno 405 GPU.

Memory

In terms of a memory slot, the Honor 5X is ahead as its version supports up to 128 GB of external storage while the Nexus 6P does not have a slot. Comparing RAM, the Nexus 6P comes with 3 GB and the Honor 5X either has 2 GB or 3 GB.

Camera

When it comes to camera quality, the Nexus 6P comes out ahead as it has a 12-megapixel version which is ranked well by DxOMark, while the Honor 5X has a 13-megapixel version which has no ranking.

Price

Comparing prices, it is clear that the Honor 5X is way ahead as it has a $199 price tag unlocked; while the unlocked Nexus 6P costs $500.
