There have been rumors about the cancellation of "Longmire" season 5 as nothing has been heard from the people involved in the series. Speculations were put to rest when filming for the season ended and the cast and crew shared pictures celebrating, including actor Lou Diamond Phillips.

Philiips plays the role of Henry Standing Bear and his July 1 post on Twitter may have also hinted on more seasons to come as his caption says, "It is a beautiful (final) day at the Red Pony and continual soiree…until next season! Big thanks #nmfilm #Longmire."

There is no exact date yet on when the season will be available on Netflix, but a fan account, Longmire Posse, has twitted that it will be released in September.

"Longmire" used to air on A&E, but, after season 3, the show was canceled due to the decline in the number of viewers. Netflix picked up the show for season 4. A season 5 was announced not long after season 4 aired and fans of the show cannot wait to see what's in store for their favorite characters.

The series is a TV adaptation of the novel series titled "Walt Longmire Mysteries" by best-selling author Craig Johnson. There have been several tweaks made for the show including the relationship of main protagonist Walt (Robert Taylor) and Victoria "Vic" Moretti (Katee Sackhoff).

In the novel, the two are in a romantic relationship, which has not happened yet on the show. Fans are divided by this story arc as some find Vic too young for Walt. Viewers have been teased about the feelings of the two characters were they have been observed to have strong romantic feelings that were never verbalized.

The season has been reported to introduce two new characters that will play a big role in either bringing Walt and Vic together, or tearing them farther apart.
