Gospel singer leads Christian nominees at Grammys

Gospel singer Marvin Sapp leads the pack artists in the Gospel/Christian genre with the most nominations heading into Sunday night's 55th Grammy Awards show.

Sapp's three nominations include two for the song "My Testimony." His nominations include Best Gospel Album ("I Win"), Best Gospel Song and Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance.

In January, Sapp won artist of the year honors at the 28th annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards.

The show, which will take place in Los Angeles this year, will air in the United States on the CBS television network at 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. CST.

The Grammy Awards feature five categories recognizing artists in the Gospel and Christian music categories. The Gospel/Christian genre is one of more than three dozen genres up for awards at this year's awards.

Singers Mary Mary have two nominations. They include Best Gospel Song ("Go Get It") and Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance ("Go Get It").

First time nominees in the Gospel field include James Fortune & FIYA, Tamela Mann, Britt Nicole, Rhett Walker, and Anita Wilson.

Previousl nominees looking for their first Grammy include Lecrae, Matt Redman, Marvin Sapp, and Matthew West.

Previous winners also nominated this year include Casting Crowns, Israel & New Breed, Donald Lawrence, Mary Mary, and TobyMac.
