'Penny Dreadful' season 4 release date, renewal news: Fans petition Netflix to pick up the series

Although it has already been announced that there will be no more "Penny Dreadful" season 4, some avid fans of the critically acclaimed Showtime series are not just giving up as they launched a petition campaign asking the producers to give the show one more season.

According to reports, fans of "Penny Dreadful" are asking Netflix to purchase the rights to the series and make a season 4. As of this writing, the petition on Change.org has already gathered 13,655 supporters and only needs 1,345 signatures, in order to meet its target of 15,000 supporters.

It can be recalled that the people behind "Penny Dreadful" have already said that they believe the series is already done telling its story, and there is no point for the series to remain on air. Hence, fans can no longer expect the series to have a season 4 even if the horror-drama series generated impressive numbers in the ratings game.

"I can absolutely confirm it is really over, the end, that's all she wrote. The whole idea to have this be the end of the series applies to all of the characters not just for Vanessa Ives and I felt the ending was for Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) and Ethan (Josh Hartnett) was Ethan got the father that he wanted and Sir Malcolm got the family he needed and together they came to a nice thing of stasis," "Penny Dreadful" creator John Logan told Deadline back in June.

Logan further added that "Penny Dreadful" has always been meant to run for a short time only as he draws a comparison between series to poems, saying that some poems are meant to be short haikus, while others are meant to be long enormous epics. "Penny Dreadful," on the other hand, has always been meant to be a sonnet, according to Logan.

With the creators of "Penny Dreadful" finding no reason to extend the life of the series, it remains to be seen whether the petition of the fans for Netflix to pick up the show and give it another season can be enough to resurrect the already presumed dead series.
