'Person of Interest' season 5 premiere date, spoilers news: Root confused between Shaw and the Machine

American science-fiction crime drama TV series "Person of Interest" is hanging on tight as it is reported to return to the small screen for its fifth season. When the show closed its fourth season, its fans were worried that it could no longer move forward. Fortunately, it's just not the right time to end yet. Reports have detailed that the show's fans petitioned for the show to go on.

CBS granted their wish, but it will only be a temporary endowment as the source stated that the episode count has been reduced to a total of 13 episodes only for season 5. The reduction of the number of episodes highly suggests that the show is about to end. It just might be the last time that fans will see John Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Harold Finch (Michael Emerson).

CBS head Nina Tassler revealed to CinemaBlend that although it is not confirmed yet, she has her doubts about "Person of Interest" going more than season 5. "We haven't determined that yet," she said. "That show's in production now and will be coming on later this season, but we haven't determined if it's the end of the series yet," she added.

Setting aside the uncertain future of the series, fans can look forward to the fifth season as spoilers suggest that the story will continue on from the last season's finale episode. According to online spoilers, Root, played by Amy Acker, will still be confused with her situation. She will be torn between Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) and the Machine.

Acker spoke in an interview with Yahoo! TV wherein she revealed that Root will be struggling with her decision because both Shaw and the Machine are her priorities. She shared that Root believes that it wouldn't make sense saving Shaw if she doesn't do everything in her might to save the Machine.

Other reports also claim that Reese will be greatly grieving for Det. Jocelyn Carter's (Taraji P. Henson) death. As result, he will be meeting his psychiatrist, Dr. Iris Campbell (Wrenn Schmidt), whom he will be attracted to.

There's no specific date yet for the premiere of "Person of Interest" season 5, but reports say that it may return sometime in May 2016.
