'Prison Break' season 5 spoilers, air date news: Actor Wentworth Miller expresses interest in a sixth season

(Facebook/ PrisonBreak)Is a season 6 "Prison Break" possible?

Filming for "Prison Break" season 5 is well underway and 44-year-old actor Wentworth Miller, who plays Michael Scofield in the prison drama TV series, wants more episodes after the fifth installment. His co-actress and love interest on the show, Sarah Wayne Callies who plays Dr. Sara Tancredi, however, is ready to bid the show farewell after season 5 concludes.

"This was pitched as, 'We're gonna do nine episodes, drop the mic and walk away,' and I'm fine with that," Callies said in an interview during the San Diego Comic-Con. "But, it's also on a long list of things that are out of my control. That's just not up to me but I'm taking it as it comes."

During the same interview, Miller expressed his interest in extending the show beyond season 5. "There's always room for more, in my mind," the actor said. "As long as it's a story that's worth telling, as long as it feels justified and cool and edgy. It has to be something that's not going to let the fans down, that's going to satisfy and surprise. I'm open to the conversation."

The upcoming fifth installment is said to show nine episodes that will reveal how Michael turns out to be alive after fans saw his unfortunate death in the finale of season 4 back in 2009. His comeback will closely resemble the story of Odysseus from the Greek poem "The Odyssey," who intends to return to his wife and see the son he has never met before.

Michael's brother, Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell), is rumored to help him escape from a prison in Yemen. Some reports also suggest that an LGBT character known as Sid will be introduced in season 5. While there are no details regarding the significance of Sid as a new character, it is believed that he is gay. Some speculate that Sid might have a romantic relationship with one of the main characters on the series.

"Prison Break" season 5 is expected to premiere in early 2017 on Fox.
