Maura (Sasha Alexander) will continue to suffer from the aftereffects of her head injury in the upcoming episode of "Rizzoli & Isles."

In "Post Mortem," CarterMatt reports that the medical examiner's struggle with her new condition is starting to bother her. After suffering from subdural hematoma, where a blood clot formed between her skull and brain, Maura discovered that her impressive memory was not functioning as before. Because of the damage that the bullet did to her head, she kept on struggling in doing simple tasks that she normally would have finished in a jiffy. She also has a bunch of fainting spells, which worried Jane (Angie Harmon) and the others. Maura was shot by Alice Sands (Annabeth Gish) during Korsak's (Bruce McGill) wedding celebration.

Showrunner Jan Nash previously told TV Guide that the upcoming episodes would be difficult for Maura, as she adjusts to the repercussions her injury brought. Nash also revealed that behind the blonde's smile is the worry that she might not be able to return to her old self again. Does this mean her condition is semi-permanent?

"Maura's great gift is her giant brain. What does it mean to this character if in fact she can't use it fully? Is she defined by her ability to know everything? [She's] asking questions that we all ask ourselves. We all make decisions in our lives. It's 'I made a choice at a moment in time for very good reasons, but is that choice still relevant to me?'" the EP shared.

Meanwhile, Jane will go up against an annoying postal inspector when her team investigates the death of a mailman. It was previously revealed that actress Yvette Nicole Brown has been tapped to play CJ Prescott, an ambitious woman who takes her job overzealously. She and Jane will reportedly clash because of their personalities, especially when the former reveals her suspicion that the victim's death is part of a huge conspiracy.
