Maura (Sasha Alexander) will heed her friends' advice to have surgery and correct her cognitive problems in the upcoming episode of "Rizzoli & Isles."

Ever since she was shot in the head by Alice Sands (Annabeth Gish), Maura has been suffering from subdural hematoma. Because of this, her impressive brain has not been functioning as it usually does. Maura keeps on forgetting the simplest details and her colleagues are all sorry to see her struggle. Kent (Adam Sinclair) eventually suggested that she should see a doctor. He even provided a list of neurosurgeons who could do the job, but Maura was still hesitant to do so. She said she was not afraid of the actual surgery, but of the results after. What if her condition does not improve?

Jane (Angie Harmon) tried to comfort her friend that it does not matter if Maura becomes a little slow permanently. The medical examiner must have felt reassured since she will decide to undergo a minor surgery in the upcoming episode titled "Shadow of Doubt." CarterMatt reports that as she recuperates, something unexpected will happen to her. Sick Maura will reconnect with her biological mother, Hope (guest star Sharon Lawrence). The last time they saw each other, the older woman was begging Maura to donate one of her kidneys to save her half sister's life.

Meanwhile, a new case will be brought to the Boston PD. A rich woman is found dead in her mansion and it looks like she fell down a flight of stairs. Evidence of foul play, however, will soon surface, prompting the police to search for the killer. The victim may have been killed because of her money. She may have even known her executioner. As Jane and the others start their manhunt operations, they will find that the culprit is a worthy adversary who likes to play a game of cat and mouse. He plans to get away with a perfect crime, but the police are closing in on him.
