Olivia (Kerry Washington) and her father Rowan (Joe Morton) are expected to battle things out in the upcoming season of "Scandal."

Last installment, the fixer managed to save her lover Jake (Scott Foley) from her father's clutches. By making him Mellie's (Bellamy Young) running mate in the upcoming elections, Olivia thought that their fight for freedom had ended. They had one-upped Rowan and they were proud of what they did. What they did not know was they were right where he wanted them to be. Rowan's mysterious smile when Olivia managed to secure Jake's candidacy was very telling.

Foley previously told Variety that Rowan's plans would be revealed in the new season.

"It's a crazy conundrum. The fact that she came up with this idea of saving Jake right in front of his face, I thought was really smart. But, turns out, it's sort of what Rowan has wanted all along — getting back into the Oval and getting the position of power, and now it looks like that's through both Olivia and Jake. That's a really interesting storyline that hopefully will play out in Season 6," the actor said.

When Olivia realizes that her father got the better of her, she will surely flip out. It will be a huge slap to her ego when she sees Rowan strolling down the halls of the White House. He will most likely rub the truth in her face that she still has a lot to learn before she defeats her old man. The father and daughter fights are expected to shake up the political arena. It will be interesting to see who takes it all in the end.

Meanwhile, Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) will reportedly be busy doing two things after stepping down from his position as POTUS. According to Game N Guide, he will start a foundation and pursue Olivia in his spare time. Fitz is allegedly determined to win her back and prove to her that it is he and not Jake who deserves her love. Will he succeed?

"Scandal" season 6 is expected to premiere midseason 2017 on ABC.
