'Secrets and Lies' season 2 episode 3 spoilers: Investigation uncovers Kate's past

(Secrets and Lies / Facebook)"Secrets and Lies" season 2 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on ABC.

Kate's (Jordana Brewster) past will be explored further in the upcoming episode 3, titled "The Liar," of the second season of the mystery anthology series "Secrets and Lies."

Curiosity about Kate's past will even get bigger. It has to do with the secret rendezvous she had at a hotel and it could be linked to Cornell's (Juliette Lewis) list of murder suspects. Cornell, on the other hand, has no plan to set Eric (Michael Ealy) free. Meanwhile, a former girlfriend of Eric shares to Cornell some information that may push the detective to confront him.

The promo trailer for "The Liar" shows Eric insisting that he did not kill his own wife even though many are suspicious of his claims. He also insists that he knew his wife so well, but he is reminded that maybe there are some things that he was not aware about her.

Then, Eric discovers that Kate has been meeting with some guy at a hotel. After his discovery, he is threatened not to tell the police about it. Cornell explains to Eric what he will be facing if he refuses to cooperate in the investigation, but he firmly tells her that if she has to arrest her, she will have to come and get him.

Meanwhile, series creator Barbie Kligman revealed on TV Guide about Eric and the investigation of his wife's death. "He starts to discover things about his perfect wife that make him question whether he knew her at all," she said. "And as he goes further down the rabbit hole, he ends up questioning whether he knew his family members, to whom he's extremely close."

The previous episode, titled "The Husband," saw Cornell interrogating Eric over his previous transgression. While the investigation is going on, she finds his ex-girlfriend at the police station.

"Secrets and Lies" season 2 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
