'Surf's Up 2: Wavemania' news, spoilers: Famous wrestlers star in upcoming 'Surf's Up' sequel
In the upcoming sequel for Sony Pictures Animation's "Surf's Up" film series, the studio teamed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) to feature professional wrestlers in the movie. John Cena, The Undertaker, Triple H, and Paige are all expected to voice a few characters in "Surf's Up 2: Wavemania."

As revealed in a trailer for the film sequel, the wrestlers will bring to life surfing penguins who are part of a team called Hang 5. Their characters will be named after them. Cena's character will have his initial, J.C. The Undertaker will play a penguin named Undertaker. Triple H as Hunter, and Paige's character will still be named Paige. The animators even gave the characters the respective traits of the wrestling stars.
Professional wrestling promoter and commentator Vince McMahon even has a role in the upcoming film. McMahon portrays a sea lion named Mr. McMahon, who is also part of the surfing group.
The Hang 5 has a pretty dramatic entrance in the trailer. A seagull even introduces them with, "Put them together for the Hang 5, the most extreme team surfing the Earth and living the dream."
The adrenaline junkies aim to surf the most dangerous waves. The latest addition to the cast will team up with the original characters, Cody Maverick, Chicken Joe, and Lani Aliikai, to catch a massive wave at a rather mysterious surf spot.
After the release of the first movie, the cast members of the original film, Mario Cantone, Jon Heder, and Shia LaBeouf, all teased the possibility of a sequel. But it was only earlier this year that Sony Pictures Entertainment confirmed that it is working with WWE for a "Surf's Up" sequel. The forthcoming animated flick is directed by Henry Yu.
"Surf's Up 2: Wavemania" is expected to hit the big screen sometime next year.
Watch out for more updates on the upcoming installment of "Surf's Up."
