Creator of 'The Vampire Diaries' dished out on the finale of season 7.

After the seventh season of "The Vampire Diaries" wrapped up last Friday, May 13, many fans are wondering if the show has more stories to tell. The show's creator explained the fate of the characters in the finale. Plus, there are already rumors spreading online that the show may no longer return for an eighth season.

Last Friday's finale was the show's lowest recorded finale ratings in the history of the drama. Also, after season 7, some of its cast have expressed leaving the show.

Creator of "The Vampire Diaries" Julie Plec explained whether Bonnie (Kat Graham) has guilt over Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) being snagged by the evil after they attempted to save her.

"I don't think she should feel guilt," Plec told E! News. "All these predicaments — the circumstance is so out of her control, and she did everything that she could to fight it, so I don't want to see her wallowing in any kind of guilt."

However, Plec believes that Bonnie is in a terrible emotional place because the people she cherishes the most ended up in a dangerous situation. Despite her will to save them, she lacks the means to do so. Plec added, "It's going to be tough for her to get thought the next chapter."

As for Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice King), Plec revealed that the entire season 7 was a push and pull of the couple's relationship as well. "I'm looking forward to seeing them be able to have a relationship that makes them happy, and we'll see. If Paul Wesley gets pregnant that could change everything," she joked.

Meanwhile, rumor has it that the recently concluded season would be the last one for the show. Other reports also suggest that the show might be renewed for an eighth season but would run with fewer number of episodes. After Nina Dobrev's exit in the previous season, some cast members reportedly wanted to leave from the supernatural series as well. Graham has also confirmed to leave the show after season 8.
