2017 Lexus LC 500 news: to make its debut during the 2016 Detroit Auto Show

Lexus is believed to be gearing up for the debut of the LC 500 – the luxury coupe based on the LF-FC concept that was unveiled back in 2012. The Lexus LC 500 is expected to be introduced during the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.

Car enthusiasts have been anticipating the release of the production version of the LF-FC concept vehicle. The LF-FC concept was designed by Toyota's CALTY Design Research, which is based in California. When it was first unveiled during the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, its appealing and innvoative design was lauded by both critics and spectators.

According to Motoring Australia, Lexus would be releasing two models – the LC 500 and the LC 500h.

The Lexus LC 500 coupe will be powered by a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V-8 engine that produces 477 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. This is the same engine used by the the Lexus RC F and the GS F. Motoring Australia also revealed that the engine may be paired with the world's first 10-speed automatic transmission developed by Aisin. The new transmission will lead to a more efficient performance.

The LC 500h coupe will feature a multi-hybrid system – like that of the Toyota Prius. For the engine, the LC 500h will be powered by an all-new 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 308 horsepower. The electric motor will produce about 217 horsepower. The LC 500h will have a combined power output of  470 horsepower.

The upcoming LC 500 and the LC 500h may also be equipped with carbon fiber components for significant weight reduction. In terms of looks, it will feature Lexus' bold spindle grille, sleek and slanted headlights and angular air intakes.

The Lexus LC 500 and the LC 500h is expected to be unveiled to the public during the 2016 Detroit Auto Show taking place this January. Lexus has yet to make an official announcement regarding the upcoming Lexus LC 500 models. Stay tuned for further updates.
