Acer has unveiled the newest model joining the ultra-slim S series — the Aspire S 13. The ultra-thin and sleek notebook comes with the latest technologies suitable for both work and play. Although the Acer Aspire S 13 faces fierce competition from the MacBook Air and Dell XPS 13, the notebook remains competitive due to its affordable price tag.

"Demonstrating the equilibrium between form and function, the Aspire S 13's powerful components come together to strike a perfect balance in size, weight and performance. Currently, there is no other branded device on the market that can offer such design excellence at this desirable price," said James Lin, general manager for Consumer Notebooks and IT Products Business at Acer.

The ultra-slim notebook features a 13.3-inch wide-angle IPS display with a Full HD screen resolution. The immersive display also comes with the Acer Bluelight Shield that reduces blue light emissions. The notebook will also be offered with an optional 10-point touch display that works well with the Windows 10 OS.

The Acer Aspire S 13 comes with a sleek and elegant design. The chassis comes with Acer's Nano-Imprint pattern on the metal cover and angular diamond-cut edges. The notebook also has a glossy hinge and a matte cover. It is thin at only 0.57 inches and lightweight at just 2.86 pounds.

Customers will be able to power their laptops with the latest sixth-generation Intel Core Skylake processor — available in Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 configurations. The Aspire S 13 can support up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of SSD storage.

The 54 kWh three-cell Li-ion battery can last up to 13 hours — enough to complete a full day's work. Connectivity options include a USB 3.1 Type-C reversible port, a USB 3.0 port, and WiFi 802.11 ac.

Other notable features include a two-stage adjustable backlit keyboard, an accurate and responsive Precision Touchpad, and the Acer TrueHarmony and Dolby Audio sound system that delivers cinematic audio performance.

The Acer Aspire S 13 will be available to purchase this May. Prices start at $699. Exact specifications will vary depending on the region.
