Google has rolled out an Android 4.4.4 update for two new devices – HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 – giving users a somewhat upgraded KitKat experience.

The tech giant is showing zero signs of slowing down. Just as Android 4.4.3 KitKat was settling down as the most recent update, Android 4.4.4 KitKat surfaced shortly thereafter.

This brand new OS is set to combat security bugs in the previous version, meaning a regular Android phone user may not notice anything different in design and user interface.

Other behind-the-scenes fixes include stability, much more stable battery life and improvment of overall performance.

After a weeks of waiting, HTC owners will now be able to get their hands on the latest KitKat OS as HTC has started pushing out Android 4.4.4 update to HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 via Google Play.

The announcement happened a few days after Custom ROM developer LlabTooFer leaked the timeline and schedule of HTC Software updates online.

Those who have the Google Play Edition of any of the aforementioned HTC smartphone models, new update files should be available now.

Users are advised to check the device regularly and see if the official OTA update notification is already available for download.

The Android 4.4.4 update is around 20MB in size, improving the KitKat experience.

As per Google tradition, the company's very own Nexus series gets the initial Android update, which then spreads to other compatible Android devices incrementally.

It was by the end of June when Moto G Google Play Edition came about with its own Android 4.4.4 KitKat update, along with Sony Xperia Z1 and LG G Pad.

Motorola also skipped Android 4.4.3 on the Droid Ultra, Maxx and Mini smartphones, and went straight to the newest version.

Other devices with Android 4.4.4 KitKat update are Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition, Sony Xperia Ultra Z.
