Apple Gold MacBook release date: waiting period of 3-4 weeks after product sells out
Apple's new, lightweight MacBook has gone on sale and its gold model is witnessing high demand, with shipping estimates ranging between 3-4 four weeks, as compared to shipment times of only 1-3 days for the silver or space gray laptops.

Apple had unveiled its latest MacBook at a press event in March along with details of the launch plans for its Apple Watch. The new MacBook is slim at just 0.14 inch at its thinnest point, weighing 2.03 pounds and sports a low-power Core M processor. The device comes with a range of new features for the Mac line, including a Force Touch trackpad with pressure-sensing capabilities for better cursor control and Retina display. The new keyboard technology also reduces typing errors and a single USB-C port in the MacBook can be used for different purposes, including charging, data transfer and monitor support.
Apple has launched the MacBook in a gold model for the first time, along with the standard silver and space gray variants. Interested customers visiting Apple's website were disappointed to find that the gold version of the new 12-inch MacBook was already sold out and they would have to wait for 3-4 weeks to get their hands on one, while the silver and space gray models also had a waiting period of 1-3 days. Both the 256 GB and 512 GB models of the new Mac laptop are already on backorder.
It is not known if the gold MacBook is more difficult to get because of short supply period or greater demand for the version, but the trend is similar to the one set by the iPhone, which saw more demand and short supply for its gold version during the initial launch period.
The new MacBook is available in 246GB and 512GB storage options at a starting price of $1,299.
