Apple, Inc. said users of iOS users updating their operating systems faster than any other platform with iOS 7.0 and 7.1

Apple revealed that iOS 7 accounted for 87 percent of all clients accessing the App Store during a seven-day period ending April 6, 2014. iOS 7 adoption in March was 83 percent.

In contrast, iOS 6 accounted for 11 percent of App Store access and earlier versions of iOS, just two percent. An 87 percent adoption is quite impressive given that iOS 7 was released only in September 2013 or less than seven months ago.

The popularity of iOS 7.1's has been almost as fast. The first major iOS 7.1 took an impressive 58 percent share, said analytics firm Mixpanel. The adoption of this OS hit a 21 percent share in its first three days and 58 percent as of April 7

Analysts expect iOS 7 adoption to range from 90 percent to 95 percent in June, which is when the Worldwide Developers Conference 2014 takes place in SanFrancisco. WWDC 2014 is also expected to give developers their first peek at iOS 8, the next major iOS release, expected to arrive in the fall.

iOS 7 is the seventh major release of the iOS mobile operating system designed as the successor to iOS 6. It was announced at WWDC 2013 and was released in September 2013. iOS 7 includes a redesigned user interface and many functionality changes.

As of February 2014, iOS 7 was installed on 82% of supported Apple devices. The most recent update, 7.1, was released last March 10, 2014.
