'Arrow' season 5 spoilers: Felicity to suffer from Havensrock trauma, will have a new love interest

Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) will continue to suffer from the guilt over the Havenrock incident that transpired in the previous season of "Arrow," and the first nine episodes of the series will show how she deals with the guilt that is eating her up.
To the uninitiated, Felicity redirected a missile to Havenrock in "Arrow" season 4, causing the death of millions of innocent civilians living in the said area.
"She's really, in the beginning of the season, grappling with the fallout from what happened at Havenrock and that will be a huge focus for her in the first nine episodes," revealed "Arrow" executive producer Wendy Mericle in an interview with Zap 2 It.
According to Mericle, Felicity will embark on soul-searching as she tries to discover what her legacy will be, the same thing that will be asked by every character on "Arrow" season 5.
"I think it'll become, if she wants to go back to Palmer Tech and try to fight for that, if that's what she thinks her legacy should be, then she certainly will," Mericle added.
Apart from dealing with the trauma and discovering what her legacy should be, it has also been revealed that Felicity will be given a new love interest in the upcoming season of "Arrow."
"She steps on it pretty hot off the bat. You'll meet him quite quickly," said Rickards in an interview with TV Line during the recently concluded San Diego Comic-Con.
However, it seems that Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) won't really become a green-eyed monster over his ex-flame's finding new love and moving past their romantic relationship.
"We meet him in episode 1, he dies in act 4," Amell joked.
Meanwhile, in the same TV Line interview, Amell disclosed that the upcoming season 5 of "Arrow" will have a "back to basics" theme. While he stressed that the forthcoming season will not be the last for "Arrow," viewers can expect a new chapter in the lives of the characters to unfold.
How will Felicity deal with the guilt that's consuming her? Will she discover her legacy? If yes, what will her legacy be? How different will "Arrow" season 5 be from its predecessors?
Find out when "Arrow" returns to The CW for its season 5 on Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET.
