Asus ZenFone 2 vs. Motorola Moto G3: G3 isn't a patch on the ZenFone 2

The Moto G3 is the latest budget smartphone from Motorola and it has frequently been described as the "real flagship" from the company since its sales have skyrocketed after the first generation was launched a couple of years back. This year, however, it is faced with a lot of competition which includes the Asus ZenFone 2.

Design

Both these devices are made mostly of plastic, but the ZenFone 2is disguised with a metallic coating that gives it a good shine and a premium appearance. Its back panel is also replaceable and users can easily remove it to access the SIM card. As for the Motorola Moto G3, it comes with the same design as the flagship Moto X Style but instead of a metal frame, it has a plastic build with a metal coating. But a big advantage of the device is that it can be customized on the Moto Maker website where users can choose from a wide range of colors for its accents and its front and back panel. Finally, it has an IPX7 certification and can be immersed in up to one meter of water for 30 minutes.

Display

When it comes to display size and quality, the ZenFone 2 comes out ahead as it has a 5.5 inch IPS screen, with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 403 pixels per inch. On the Moto G3 is an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.0 inches with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a density of 294 pixels per inch.

Specs

The hardware in the ZenFone 2 is pretty advanced. It comes in two versions, one with 4 GB RAM and another with 2 GB. As for the 4GB RAM model, it has an Intel Atom Z3580 chipset, a quad-core CPU clocked at 2.3 GHz and a PowerVR G6430 GPU. In the Moto G3 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset along with a CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.4 GHz and an Adreno 306 GPU.

Memory

The memory slot on the ZenFone 2 can support up to 64 GB of external storage while the Moto G3 can only support 32 GB. As for RAM, the Moto G3 only has 1 GB or 2 GB onboard while as mentioned above, the ZenFone 2 comes with either 2 GB or 4 GB.

Price

The price of the Motorola Moto G3 is its most attractive point. The version with 2 GB RAM only costs $219, unlocked while the unlocked 1 GB RAM, only sells for $179. As for the ZenFone 2, it is priced at $300, unlocked.
