'Attack on Titan' season 2 news: New season delayed due to release of 'Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress'?

(Bessatsu Shonen)"Attack on Titan" season 2 delayed again?

Season 2 of "Attack on Titan" is no stranger to delays. Earlier, it was reported that production was stalled as the show was waiting for more manga issues to be released. Now, it seems that the series is once again being delayed to make way for another series "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress."

Anime director Tetsuro Araki is currently doing double duty as he is attached to both "Attack on Titan" and "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress." During an interview with Japanese magazine Bessatsu Shonen earlier this month, he revealed, "As I get through 'Koutejetsujou no Kabaneri's' production, I'm also continuing my work on the second season of 'Shingeki no Kyojin.'"

"Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" recently premiered last Apr. 8. On the other hand, there's still no word on a release date for "Attack on Titan." It is possible that Araki had eventually prioritized production of "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress."

Season 2 of "Attack on Titan" continues to be one of the most highly anticipated anime series. Reports suggest that the upcoming season will feature the death of Levi. He will reportedly sacrifice his own life for the safety of his squad mates. Spoilers for the upcoming season also suggest that Commander Erwin Smith will investigate on the Reiss family after he realizes that the king holds no true power. The Reiss family is said to have the ability to turn into Titans.

While avid fans surely feel some disappointment in the lack of updates for "Attack on Titan," they can dispel their worries away by focusing first on other related content that have been recently released. Viewers can learn more about Levi's backstory in "A Choice With No Regrets," as seen on events prior to season 1 of "Attack on Titan" in "Ilse's Notebook" or enjoy the lighthearted spin-off series "Attack on Titan: Junior High."

Season 2 of "Attack on Titan" is still tentatively scheduled for release later this year. More news and updates on "Attack on Titan" should be released in the coming months.
