'Avengers 3' rumors: What is next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

The release of the third and fourth installments of "Avengers" is already on the horizon. With the two films expected to serve as the finale of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), which was first set back in 2008, one of the questions being raised is — what will happen to the Marvel franchise after that? The directors of the upcoming films shared their thoughts about this.
The people from IGN were able to speak with Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of the upcoming movies "Avengers: Infinity War" and its still untitled sequel.
Anthony said in the interview, "I can't get into too much detail about who we're introducing, but these two movies are intended to be the culmination of everything that has happened in the MCU since the very first Iron Man movie."
He also shared that since the upcoming installments will serve as the finale for MCU, some plot threads may be ended. He added that at the same time, such will also mark the start of new "things."
The two directors also helmed "Captain America: Civil War," in which two characters were introduced to the MCU — Spider Man and Black Panther. There is a possibility that new figures will likewise make their debut in the upcoming installments of "Avengers."
Furthermore, this means that there is a chance that the MCU will continue on with fresh story lines featuring the characters that will be added in the two upcoming films. The directors did not share more details on what is to come after the release of the two "Avenger" movies.
According to reports, another female character will be included in the growing roster of heroes of "Avengers 3." There are rumors suggesting that Anna Kendrick recently got the role of Squirrel Girl. It has also been confirmed that Brie Larson will play the heroine, Captain Marvel, and her movie is expected to hit theaters in 2018.
The third installment, "Avengers: Infinity War," is set to be released on May 4, 2018.
