'Bates Motel' season 4 spoilers, news: Norman's psychosis to be exposed by Dr. Edwards?; new season to be darker and more dangerous

Fans of "Bates Motel" finally saw Norman assuming his mother's persona in season 3 and kill Bradley while in one of his blackout states. Now, his psychosis might be exposed with the arrival of Dr. Gregg Edwards, a doctor at Pineview Mental Institution.
Deadline reported that Damon Gupton is on board to play Dr. Gregg Edwards. Viewers have seen Gupton play a detective in "Empire" and "The Player," but this time around, he will be playing a doctor described as walking a very thin line between "professional curiosity and personal investment in his patients' lives."
Dr. Edwards' arrival ushers in a new phase in the show and lays credence to reports that Norman (Freddie Highmore) might finally be committed to an asylum in "Bates Motel" season 4. In the series' third season, Dylan (Max Thieriot) saw his brother taking on their mother's persona as a way of dealing with his separation anxiety. There have also been several instances in the previous season where Norman hallucinated and did things that he normally wouldn't do. It reached a point where Norma (Vera Farmiga) finally went to a mental institution to get help for her son but found out that it would cost $20,000 a month.
The show's Twitter page had also sent several tweets that indicated season 4 will show a darker Norman Bates, maybe even one who would be spending more time assuming his mother's personality. One tweet showed Norman wearing his mother's robe while happily puttering around the kitchen. It was simply captioned – "New year, new you?"

Highmore had previously admitted in an Entertainment Weekly interview that a darker and more dangerous Norman Bates will be seen in season 4.
The actor, who played the role of Charlie Bucket in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," revealed to EW that he looks at season 3 as the turning point and that by the end of the season, "Norman is much closer to the Norman Bates of 'Psycho.'"
This development will undoubtedly cause a lot of problems for Norma, who's set to do everything just to be able to raise money to get her son admitted to Pineview Mental Institution. She might have some help from Dr. Edwards, who's rumoured to be her love interest next season.
"Bates Motel" season 4 will premiere in March 2016.
