"Batman: Arkham Knight" has finally rolled out its first major downloadable content and it features 55-minutes of fighting with no other than Batgirl.

Available with the $40 season pass or $6.99 a pop, "Batgirl: A Matter of Family" is the very first DLC for the video game console game, "Batman: Arkham Knight." According to Forbes, the updated download serves as a prequel to all Arkham games and will be followed by other episodic game content in future updates.

As a prequel, players will be roaming Gotham City where The Joker is alive and kicking and Barbara Gordon dons a cape and a mask. In this new content, players as Batgirl, with the aid of Robin, will battle Joker and Harley Quinn.

IGN says that this is a nicely done DLC, with Batgirl serving as someone sort of a Batman-lite: she has all the same moves, just lesser gadgets. And because she is Barbara Gordon, Batgirl comes equipped with super hacker skills that eclipse even that of Batman's.

This will come in handy when activating traps prior to actual combat. The story goes on to show that The Joker has decided to kidnap Commissioner Gordon, Batgirl's father, and so she sets out to rescue him. The start is a bit linear and gamers might enjoy the little banters between Batgirl and Robin, which hint at their romantic future.

But even as a good DLC, some players might still find "Batgirl: A Matter of Family" a lackluster game. Both IGN and Forbes seem to agree that less than an hour of gameplay just might not be enough for a major update.

Plus, even with the nicely done gameplay and a well-thought out plot with The Joker picking fight with Batman's sidekicks, the major battle in the end is, as Forbes put it, "nothing to write home about." It was, as described by IGN, a simple brawl and is not anything special—which is a major disappointment considering everything DC fans know of The Joker.

"Batgirl: A Matter of Family" is already available for season pass holders and will be rolled out to others on July 21. It will be available only for the Xbox One and PS4; still no word on the PC version.
