Just a little more than two weeks and the Doctor is returning with his latest companion, Clara Oswald. But prior to diving back into the latest Doctor's adventures, fans can soak more of the fandom with a mini episode set to hit theaters. And BBC America gives Whovians a sneak peek of that episode.

Along with a theater showing of "Doctor Who" season eight's two final episodes, "Dark Water" and "Death in Heaven," BBC America is also premiering a mini episode that serves as prequel to season nine. The minisode is titled "The Doctor's Meditation."

BBC America has just given fans a sneak peek of what they will see in the short prequel. In the two photos posted on Facebook, Peter Capaldi's Doctor is spotted with Bors, played by Daniel Hoffmann-Gill, who will also reappear in season nine's pilot, "The Magician's Apprentice."

In one of the pictures, though (see it below), the Twelfth Doctor is spotted holding a very familiar chalice. The chalice looks similar to the one from planet Karn. It was first seen in "The Night of the Doctor," the 2013 mini episode, where the Eighth Doctor (Paul MgGann) regenerated when he drank from it.

Does this mean the last remaining Time Lord is gearing for another regeneration? That may be highly unlikely. But what is likely is that he will be returning to Karn. Claire Higgins, who played Sisterhood of Karn member, Ohila, is after all, appearing in season nine. It is, however, still unconfirmed if she will be reprising her role.

At the moment, the minisode is only available for people watching the cinema event for "Dark Water" and "Death in Heaven." It premieres this Sept. 15 and will run until the season nine pilot premiere.

Whovians can get as much of their "Doctor Who" fix when it returns for season nine on Sept. 19.
