Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) may end up losing their jobs in the upcoming episode of "Bones."

In "The Last Shot at a Second Chance," CarterMatt reports that Brennan will have to attend a hearing regarding her previous assault of a suspect. She will have to explain to the FBI what made her punch the man in the face when she should have kept her cool in the interrogation. The incident happened while she and Booth were working a case involving the death of a founder of a men's rights organization. Brennan snapped when the suspect kept on insulting her and babbling about nonsensical things. If things will not work out for her, she may be suspended.

Meanwhile, her husband is also facing a difficult situation where he may end up busting his long career in the Bureau. The synopsis reveals that the Jeffersonian will be tapped to investigate the death of a criminal. He was previously allowed to stay in a halfway house, but he suddenly disappeared. The authorities had no idea what happened to him, until his corpse was found. The suspect is said to be connected to Booth. In the promo, it looks like they were once good friends.

As Booth and Aubrey's (John Boyd) probe for the truth continues, the former cannot seem to work on the case without being personally affected. Even Aubrey cautions Booth that he should focus on the job and quit thinking about his friendship with the suspect. Later on, Booth and Brennan were both summoned in the FBI office, where a senior officer tells the male agent that he will no longer work with the Bureau if his integrity becomes compromised. Will Christine (Sunnie Pelant) be saddled with jobless parents?

Elsewhere, Hodgins (TJ Thyne) and Angela's (Michaela Conlin) marriage continues to suffer as he keeps on pushing her away. No matter how much she tries to understand her husband, Angela cannot stop herself from feeling hurt by his attitude. Hodgins has let his depression rule his life, even their colleagues have difficulty working with him. As for Aubrey, it looks like he has to wait a little longer before he can get that smooch from Jessica (guest star Laura Spencer).
