'Bones' season 12 spoilers, news: Will series end with Brennan's death?

(Facebook/Bones)Brennan's fate lies in the hands of a crazy man in the final season of "Bones."

Fans of the TV series "Bones" are crossing their fingers that one of the deaths being teased in the upcoming season will not be Brennan's (Emily Deschanel).

Previously, FOX has released the official synopsis for the show's final season. According to the teaser, several deaths are expected to happen in the new storylines. Speculations claim that one of the casualties will be a main character. Since Brennan was kidnapped last installment, the odds of her being a victim are high. She was abducted by Zack (Eric Millegan), a brilliant intern who worked for her in the past. Zack is mentally ill and the clues point to him as being the true face of "The Puppeteer," the serial killer.

In his recent interview with TV Line, showrunner Jonathan Collier said that season 12 would be hard for Brennan. It appears that her husband, Booth (David Boreanaz), will also have a tough time, trying to keep her alive. "Nothing is off the table, because some very, very, very serious, meaningful, hard-hitting things are going to happen to Brennan," the EP teased.

Before the last installment wrapped up, viewers learned that Brennan was seeing a shrink. She still could not sleep well at night, being haunted by Zack's memory. Booth also discovered the truth about his wife and was worried. Not long after, Brennan disappeared. She was last seen in a darkened room, where Zack was telling her he missed having his conversations with her. Booth and the others at the Jeffersonian must race against time and find Brennan immediately. Zack is a dangerous man and there is no telling what he will do to her.

Meanwhile, the fans can only hope that the final season will give a good closure to their beloved series. Hopefully, it will end with the Jeffersonian team still intact, with Brennan back in their midst after her harrowing ordeal.

"Bones" season 12 is expected to air midseason, sometime in early 2017.
