Kate (Stana Katic) will be a teensy bit jealous of her husband's dynamics with feisty investigator Hayley Shipton (Toks Olagundoye) in the upcoming episode of the ABC series "Castle."

In "Backstabber," CarterMatt reveals that Hayley will find herself being framed for a crime she has not committed. It appears that she is doing a favor for a friend and will end up being involved in "a killing and cyber-terror attack." As the security specialist tries to make sense of her predicament, her good friend Rick (Nathan Fillion) will come to her rescue. He and Kate will do everything they can to clear up the accusations against her.

Although extremely grateful for his comradeship, the promo shows Hayley looking apprehensive about entrusting her case to Rick. She tells him she has never even seen him work a crime scene before. Rick playfully answers she should tag along to see a jedi master at work. Kate, meanwhile, can only roll her eyes in exasperation. There is a questioning look in her face though, as if she wants to know how deep Rick and Hayley's connection is. Is she jealous? After all, they just got back together after splitting for several months.

If Kate thinks Hayley means more than a friend to Rick, she can breathe easy since the female investigator has no time for love. During her interview with TV Line September last year, Olagundoye talked about her character, stating she has heard the rumors that Hayley would be nothing more than a love interest for Rick. She said that she liked the fact that the sleuth could hold her own and be her own woman.

"Honestly, I would have resented, after 21 years as an actor, to be brought on a show simply to be somebody's romantic interest. [Laughs] It's not a soap opera. So I like the fact that work is No. 1 on her plate; you shouldn't have time for anything else. I mean, she's flying between countries, for God's sake, to get her work done! [Laughs] I do like showing, 'Yeah, there are women in this world who aren't just looking for guys.' It's kinda cool," the actress shared.

"Castle" season 8 airs Monday at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
