Charge your mobile's battery in just 30 seconds with nanodot technology

Israeli startup StoreDot, Ltd has announced what it says is a groundbreaking new mobile phone battery charger that charges a cell phone battery from 27 percent to 100 percent in 30 seconds.

The "Flash Battery" is made with nanodots, the first bio-organic nanocrystal ever discovered, said StoreDot. Only 2 nanometers in size, nano dots are multifunctional bio-organic peptide molecules

StoreDot claims nanodots are going to change how future mobile devices are made. The Flash Battery is currently suitable only for the Samsung Galaxy S4, and is likely to cost twice as much as conventional cell phone chargers. But it's being praised for being environmentally friendly.

By reducing charge times from hours to mere seconds, the Flash Battery should take-off in the marketplace but only if StoreDot can make flash batteries for other smartphone brands, and assuming they're successful at commercializing their product.

"In essence, we have developed a new generation of electrodes with new materials. We call it MFE, Multi Function Electrode," said StoreDot CEO Doron Myersdorf.

"On one side it acts like a supercapacitor (with very fast charging), and on the other is like a lithium electrode (with slow discharge). The electrolyte is modified with our nanodots in order to make the multifunction electrode more effective."

StoreDot's nanodot is the first bio-organic nano crystal ever discovered. Only two nanometers in size, these multifunctional nanodots are bio-organic peptide molecules that change the rules of mobile device capabilities.

StoreDot said its nanodot technology will result in fast charging time for next-generation batteries due to increased electrode capacitance. It will also lead to extended battery life since batteries will no longer have to withstand thousands of charge/discharge cycles.
