The fourth season finale of "Chicago Fire" aired a mere day ago and fans of the series can barely contain their emotions surrounding the turn-out of the season.

Arguably the topic viewers have been talking about since the airing is Boden being arrested and Patterson taking his place as the firehouse chief. Fortunately for audiences, not only has the series been renewed for a fifth season prior to the finale, but Boden himself have since talked about the fate and what lies ahead for his character.

Speaking to TV Guide prior to the finale, Eamonn Walker, the actor who plays Wallace Boden, gives insight to the inner workings of his character as he plunges to new lows he has never experienced before. According to Walker, the events at the tailend of the most recent run saw Boden at his most vulnerable and because of his desperation he clings onto his wife and his firehouse family.

"Boden is the lowest he's ever been. ... And he gets to the point where he says, "I'm going to protect my family now." This is a personal thing. You get to see this man at his most vulnerable. He can't come through this on his own," explained Walker.

In the same interview, Walker explains what lies ahead for Boden in the upcoming season. According to the actor, season 5 would see a changed Boden who values the team more saying:

"How it will actually manifest is, I think, is it's still a great team of people, full of mavericks who come up with wonderful ideas of how to get through any difficult situation. But I think what's going to happen is it's going to convince [Boden] that he was right, that you need a family atmosphere."

NBC has yet to announce the premiere date for "Chicago Fire" season five.
