Cleveland Cavaliers trade rumors 2016: Swap with Kings to resolve roster issues?

The Cleveland Cavaliers are the reigning champions but they still have roster problems that should be addressed and a possible solution to all of this is a trade with the Sacramento Kings.

In a potential swap, the Cavaliers are giving up rumor mill favorite Kevin Love and J.R. Smith, who they will sign to a contract for him to be dealt.

With Love and Smith maybe going to Sacramento, Cleveland will welcome Willie Cauley-Stein, Darren Collison, Rudy Gay, Ben McLemore and a protected first-round pick in 2017.

This looks impossible for now, but if it materializes, the Cavs may have answered all the issues they are dealing with regarding their roster.

Cauley-Stein is a versatile big man who can play as a power forward and center. The Cavaliers are reportedly looking for a man in the middle that will help their defense, mainly for shot blocking, and the 23-year-old could fulfill that role.

Collison is a playmaker, and with Mo Williams expected to retire before the season opens, he may take the latter's roster spot and end the champs' search for a point guard.

With Smith leaving if this trade takes place, the Cavs need a shooting guard and McLemore will be that guy. The 23-year-old had a lackluster showing last season but he has the potential to be a great scorer, and in "The Land," he might get the opportunity to redeem himself.

Meanwhile, Gay is a great boost for the Cavaliers since he is an efficient scorer and has years of experience. Both of those factors will be beneficial in the champs' upcoming title defense.

A future pick is always a plus when it comes to deals like this and Cleveland could use it to select a talented prospect or they could also include it in another trade in the future to improve the squad.
