'Code Black' season 2 episode 5 spoilers and preview: Possible measles outbreak threatens the hospital; how will the doctors move on from Charlotte's death?

(Facebook/CodeBlackCBS)A possible measles outbreak threatens the entire ER.

There's no let up in dangerous cases at Angels Memorial, and the upcoming episode is no exception. Not only are the doctors struggling to treat numerous patients, a case of  a measles outbreak threatens them and the rest of the ER.

"Code Black" fans were shocked when the ER department of Angels Memorial lost one of their own in the previous episode, when Dr. Charlotte Piel (Nafessa Williams) shielded a young patient from a man running amock in the hospital. The death was surprising as it was upsetting, coming out of nowhere and just when the character was starting to come on her own.

Charlotte's tragic demise would undoubtedly cast a pall on the ER, but the doctors have no time to mourn in episode 5 as they struggle to cope with the influx of patients caught in a Malibu landslide. But a more insidious threat is on the horizon as a group of children with measles endangers the entire Emergency Room.

A clip for the upcoming episode, "Landslide," starts with a shot of the ER apparently more hectic than usual. Doctors are gathered around a number of patients and, from their mud-covered visage, these are the victims of the landslide. The doctors are surprised when a female patient suddenly accuses another patient of killing Drew, her boyfriend. The man in question is later seen patched up and telling his doctor that he wishes that he could remember what happened. The doctor assures him that it wasn't his fault. But is he really innocent or did he have something to do with the landslide?

It's not just the patients who are at each other's throats. The trailer ends with Dr. Campbell (Boris Kodjoe) apparently baiting Dr. Ethan Willis (Rob Lowe), hinting that the military doctor wants to bust out his cowboy routine again.

The two doctors are as different as night and day. While Campbell has been getting on the residents' nerves with his micro-managing, Willis has been more open with getting to know his colleagues and sharing his expertise. It would be interesting to see whether these two alpha males can find common ground.

Episode 5 of "Code Black" season 2 is set to be aired on Nov. 2 at 10 p.m.
