Another world-class boxer is challenging Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherwight champion Conor McGregor to a mixed martial arts (MMA) fight as Amir Khan is willing to step inside the cage and do it.

In a report by FloCombat.com, Khan spoke about Floyd Mayweather Jr., who earlier this year guaranteed a fight between him and McGregor.

According to Khan, it was a "publicity stunt" although Mayweather and McGregor gave it hype.

Then Khan said he would do it, fight in a cage under MMA rules, and that is the "difference" between him and Mayweather.

"I would definitely give it a go. It's something to learn, as well. I'm at that age where I'm still learning, adapting and getting better. So I still have time under me as well. I'm still a young lad and got loads left in me," Khan explained.

Khan also mentioned the weight category in which he and McGregor will compete in if the bout is going to happen. The 29-year-old British slugger went on to discuss how big the potential contest will be.

"McGregor is a massive name in MMA, and I'm a big name in boxing, so globally, I think it would be a massive fight. Sometimes, you have to put friendship aside and you have to take it in the cage or in the ring. But yeah, if that fight comes up to me, I'm not one to back away from it," Khan stated.

Khan was confident when it comes to him dabbling in MMA. He believes it will just take a year for him to train and become a good MMA fighter because fighting is in his blood.

A Khan-McGregor fight, if happening, may take a while. Currently, McGregor is training for his rematch versus Nate Diaz next month. Following that, he is expected to be booked for a title defense.

Khan, on the other hand, is coming off a knockout loss to Saul Alvarez earlier this year. By the time McGregor would be ready for a massive showdown, he might be the one occupied in his boxing career.
