'Dance Moms' news: Gianna Martello talks about Maddy Ziegler's success and drama

With the drama surrounding the hit reality series "Dance Moms," there are a lot of fans wondering about what it's really like behind the scenes of the show.
Many have been following the lives of the young dancers and coach Abby Lee Miller, which may have shown the chaos that takes place within dance groups. In addition, viewers' eyes were opened to the disciplinary methods of Miller, which has caused some criticism throughout the show's seasons.
Fortunately, one of the lead figures involved in the series, Gianna Martello, was able to shed some light about the true happenings in Abby Lee's Dance Company. Though trained by Miller since she was 7 years old, Martello was known in the series as someone who helped Miller out with choreography.
Martello said she was originally surprised when she first heard about having a show for the dance group. However, now, she expects "Dance Moms" to continue in its success. She also mentioned that ever since the beginning, she was aware that Maddie Ziegler was going to go far with her dancing career.
According to an interview with BuddyTV, Martello shared: "I knew from the beginning that she was gonna be big. She was this little, tiny pipsqueak that never spoke a word in my class, but I knew she was smart. There's some kids that dance, but there's some kids that just have a little something else."
Despite the drama that was shown in the series, Martello said that she tried to remain focused on the core of the dance group. She explained in the same interview: "I know that my job is solely with the children, and they shouldn't be involved in that yelling. They're here for the dancing, so I just try to keep them focused and always rehearsing, always just having their heads geared towards competition, rather than what's going on outside of the dance studio."
Nevertheless, fans can still expect to see some drama as the rest of the season continues.
"Dance Moms" airs on Lifetime every Tuesday, 9 p.m. EST.
