'Extant' Season 2 Spoilers: farewell to Goran Visnjic and Camryn Manheim; new cast member in Jeffrey Dean Morgan

After a successful first season, "Extant" will be back for Season 2 on July 1. The series, starring Halle Berry in the role of Molly, an astronaut who comes back to earth after 13 months on a solo mission in space and finds herself pregnant, will be headed for a major revamp.
Goran Visnjic, who plays Molly's husband, robotics engineer Dr. John Woods, will exit the show, after an appearance at the start of Season 2. According to Entertainment Weekly, in the premiere "Molly will learn some dangerous secrets that will send her into a tailspin of epic proportions."
Deadline reported the other casting changes for the show. Camryn Manheim, who plays Molly's friend and co-worker will, like Visnjic only return for the first part of Season 2 and then exit, thereafter. Original cast members from Season 1 Hiroyuki Sanada and Michael O'Neill are not coming back. Returning would be Pierce Gagnon, who plays Molly's android son, and Grace Gummer, who plays an assistant on the Humanichs Project.
According to the new trailer, Jeffrey Dean Morgan will join the show as J.D. Rickter, a policeman and bounty hunter, who thought he has seen everything, until Molly came into this life, according to Entertainment Weekly. He seems to be a potential love interest for Molly.
David Morissey ("The Walking Dead") will also join the cast to play General Tobias Shepherd, the head of the Global Security Commission. He is "known and respected for making the tough calls of wartime and standing by them even when they are morally ambiguous."
The premiere episode of Season 2 is entitled "Change Scenario," and below is the synopsis released by CBS:
"Six months after her life unraveled and dark secrets were revealed, Molly is confined to a psychiatric hospital when she learns of bizarre deaths that sound eerily similar to those she witnessed in space. When she escapes to investigate, she crosses paths with JD Richter, a determined cop who just signed on to the case, on the second season premiere."
"Extant" premieres on Wednesday, July 1 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
