Fans are in for a big treat in the upcoming chapters of "Fairy Tail." The battle of the strongest may have happened in the previous chapter, but the biggest battle in the arc is yet to happen next week in chapters 522 and 523.

In chapters 522 and 523, fans can expect to see the full battle between the highest ranked mage of the Fairy Tail guild and the wisest mage of the Alvarez Empire. The battle between Gildarts and August is expected to be one of the biggest fights in the history of Earthland, especially since Gildarts has never lost to anybody. Some fans speculate that being the mightiest in the guild, Gildarts will be able to take on his biggest opponent yet all by himself. On the other hand, some believe that Laxus and Jellal will come to assist him in the middle of the fight.

There are also speculations that in the upcoming chapter, Gray might use Iced Shell to take down Zeref. However, Tripped Media noted that doing so might cause him to die in the process. If that happens, then Wendy will not be able to save him.

Since the beginning of the manga, Gray has faced death several times. It can be recalled that in the Grand Magic Games Arc, he was only able to get away from death due to the time reversal magic of Ultear. In chapter 521, he was also severely wounded in his fight against Zeref. Apparently, his weak physical state prevented him from having any chance to defeat his opponent.

Chapter 521 saw the fight between August, the strongest in Spriggan, and Gildarts, the mightiest in the Fairy Tail guild, as well as the battle between Gray and Zeref. As Gray finally faced Zeref, fans saw how Gray's ice devil slayer magic fell short in taking down the black mage. The previous chapter also saw Gildarts' arrival before August could even cast a spell to destroy the Kingdom.
