'Fallout Shelter' news: Game now out on PC; update adds Quests, new enemies, and combat control features

The popularity of Bethesda's "Fallout Shelter" will undoubtedly shoot up again now that the game is available on the PC. The game's latest update, which introduces quests and new weapons, will also have people tending their vaults more religiously than before.
Bethesda tweeted earlier this week that updates for the vault management game would be released on July 14, along with a PC version of the game. But in a surprise move, the company released both a day early.
Now those who prefer their games to be on the PC can have fun with the new and improved "Fallout Shelter." The game is available thru the Bethesda launcher and players would need an active Bethesda acount to play. If they don't have one, they can simply sign up for free.
The highly anticipated update appears to be everything that any vault Overseer is looking for. "Fallout Shelter's" 1.6 update introduces Quests and an improved combat system. Quests allows the player, a.k.a. the Overseer, to go out into the Wasteland with other explorers. There are several quests to choose from, each with their own distinct requirements and rewards. Players have to choose three dwellers who will go on these quests, outfit them with the necessary provisions and send them on their way. Quest locations are like smaller versions of the Vault, with rooms that have to be explored. Objectives vary, but most entail rescuing someone or taking down a specific enemy.
Aside from the Quests, Bethesda has also tweaked the combat system. In the new system, players can now target specific characters by simply clicking and dragging the target symbol over the enemy. You can also left-click on your character and then on the enemy you're eyeing. There's also a critical hit system minigame that challenges you to hit as close to the center (or bullseye) as you can. The closer you hit the center, the higher the damage you inflicted.
The update also introduces two new enemies, the Ghouls and RadScorpions, and a new product called the Nuka Cola Quantum. The cola can be used in various ways, like starting a quest early, crafting items, finishing customizations, or getting your dwellers back to the vault faster.
