'Fargo' season 3 spoilers, cast news: Carrie Coon joins Ewan McGregor as series regular

(Facebook/FargoFX)"Fargo" is expected to come out in 2017.

"Fargo" has added another cast member to its roster for the series' third season. Carrie Coon, known for "The Leftovers," has been tapped to appear in a series regular role.

TVLine exclusively got the scoop that Coon would be playing Gloria Bugle, who is described as the calm and practical one in a group of panicked people. Having just gone through a divorce, Gloria is a mother who also happens to be the chief of the Eden Valley police. She will try to grasp the idea of the period she is living in, where people have become so attached to technology than the actual people around them.

It has been previously announced that Ewan McGregor had been added to the cast of season 3, playing two characters — brothers — who look similar. There's Emmit Stussy, the more successful of the pair, and then there's Ray Stussy, the younger brother. Ray is described to be chubby and losing all his hair, while Emmit is confident and attractive. Ray also feels resentment toward Emmit and blames him for all of his troubles. Ray works as a parole officer, while Emmit is a real estate tycoon.

Showrunner and creator Noah Hawley has said that the upcoming season will be set in modern times, "a couple years after season 1," which took place in 2006. Of course, "Fargo" is an anthology series and has adopted different cast members each season. However, in Hawley's interview with Entertainment Weekly, he admitted to the possibility of seeing some season 1 characters return for season 3.

The critically acclaimed FX series has been the recipient of numerous awards. Just recently, it was announced that "Fargo" has been nominated for a number of Emmy awards, including Best Limited Series, Best Actress in a Limited Series or a Television Movie for Kirsten Dunst, Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or a Television Movie for Jesse Plemons and Bokeem Woodbine, and Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or a Television Movie for Jean Smart.

"Fargo" season 3 is expected to commence production later this year and will premiere in 2017.
