'Fast & Furious 8' cast news: Helen Mirren, Deepika Padukone, Cody Walker to possibly star alongside Vin Diesel

"Fast and Furious 8" is still a year away from being released, but the rumors about the film are already flying fast.

There's admittedly very little confirmed information about the upcoming film aside from "Fast & Furious 8" being the first installment in a trilogy that will usher in the end of the successful franchise. The movie will also reportedly be set in New York, a setting that fans would definitely want to see, given the Big Apple's notorious gridlock.

It goes without saying that the original cast will be back, along with Kurt Russell, who's set to reprise his role as Mr. Nobody. But who will be joining the cast in the upcoming film?

There have been reports that Paul Walker's younger brother, Cody, will be onboard. Cody was the one the production company tapped to finish the late star's scenes for "Furious 7" and, according to Christian Post, he might be returning as a full cast member this time around. Australia Network News even reported that it's possible Cody will be cast as Brian O'Conner's younger brother, whom the family thought to have died in the war.

Another celebrity whose name has been linked to the franchise is Dame Helen Mirren. The Academy Award winner co-starred with Vin Diesel in "The Last Witch Hunter" and has allegedly expressed an interest in joining the next "Fast and Furious" flick. Diesel admitted that the unexpected action star is actually on the list of people being considered and even cheekily warned her to "be careful what you wish for, Helen."

Another one of Diesel's co-stars is also rumoured to be appearing in the movie, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. The 29-year-old Indian actress is set to work with the actor on the "xXx" sequel, "Xander Cage Returns."

These are all speculations, however, it would be interesting to see these actors join the cast. Fans will just have to wait and see when "Fast & Furious 8" hits theatres on April 14, 2017.
