'Final Fantasy 7 Remake' release rumors: Will the game's episodic format speed up or delay its release?

(Square Enix)Still no release date currently known for the 'Final Fantasy 7 Remake'

Fans still don't know a lot about the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake," but one of the few things they do know is that the eagerly anticipated game will be released across multiple episodes.

It would seem that going with this episodic approach should help developers release the game earlier, especially since they could probably get away with making the first episode available while still continuing to work on the others, but that may not necessarily be the case.

During an earlier interview with Game Informer, producer Yoshinori Kitase shared that the developers already have an idea of how many episodes there may be, while also indicating that things could still change depending on how development progresses, and that figures to be an important point.

Though it may be possible for developers to release the first episode of the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" as soon as it is ready, they still have to keep its follow-up episodes in mind.

Square Enix can't just release the first episode and then ask fans to wait for months or perhaps even years for the second one should issues suddenly pop up in development.

As soon as Square Enix releases that first episode, it won't take long before fans start wondering about when the next one will arrive, so the developers have to take that into consideration too.

Simply put, releasing the first episode of the Remake without ensuring that the next one will be able to follow not long after could turn out to be a really bad move for Square Enix, meaning they will likely have to get all episodes nearly ready before they release even the first one to ensure that the rollout from there progresses as expected.

Square Enix is taking a big risk by utilizing an episodic approach for the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" and fans will definitely hope that it works out for them, because anything less could mean that the highly anticipated game may even take longer to develop than expected.
