A quest for a healthy lifestyle is what many people live for these days. It is no wonder why smartwatches have grown into popularity since its launch in 2014. The Fitbit Alta and the Apple Watch OS 2 both offer impressive functions but with different priorities.

Fitbit released its Alta model and comparisons with the Apple Watch OS 2 have surfaced.
The two smartwatches are both connected to smartphones while on the owner's wrist. Both smartwatches can track fitness activity on its wearer; however, one smartwatch favors monitoring physical activities more, while the other is more of a smartphone one's wrist.

Fitness Alta monitors its owner's number of steps made, distance, and calories burned. It also monitors all other activities made including those in stationary mode. It also serves as a reminder to keep moving and celebrate when a certain amount of calories have been burned.

Fitbit Alta is also equipped with a one-tap function that displays stats, time, and smartphone notification. The watch is slim and may be accessorized to make it more stylish.

On the other hand, Apple Watch OS 2 boasts of its enhanced smartwatch features that makes access to the connected smartphones better. Apple Watch OS 2 has introduced the Time Travel feature wherein users turn the Digital Crown to go backward and forward in time, therefore looking back on previous activities are made easier.

Apple Watch OS 2 has also improved its HealthKit, making the health sensors access heart rate and other vital signs in real time. However, it does not automatically monitor calories burned unless programmed to do so.

Other features improved are the audio, video, and microphone experience. Music and videos may already be played on the Apple Watch OS 2, while recording from the microphone may also be directly stored on the smartphone.

Apple has not made an official announcement yet, but talks about a whole new generation of Apple smartwatch have been rumored since last year.
