The Galaxy S6 Active is a variant of the Galaxy S6 flagship from Samsung and just like the flagship model, it has been gaining popularity and attracting attention since it launched. Here is how the waterproof S6 Active compares to the Galaxy S6.

Design

When it comes to design, the Galaxy S6 is a clear winner as it has an aluminum frame and a layer of toughened Gorilla Glass 4 wrapped around its body, which gives it a classy look and feel. However, it is not waterproof and dustproof. The S6 Active, on the other hand, comes with a plastic body, though its edge is its IP68 certification, which means that it is dust-proof and water-resistant. Now only can it be submerged in up 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes, but it can also survive vibrations, shocks, extreme temperatures and even high altitudes, as it conforms to the US MIL-STD-810G standard. In terms of color, the Galaxy S6 comes in black, white, gold and blue while the S6 Active sells in three colors, camo blue, camo white and gray.

Display

The display of both devices are the same. Each has a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch.

They have been equipped by Samsung with the latest chipset, which has handily beaten other current smartphones in terms of speed. Both phones have an Exynos 7420 chipset, an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and a Mali-T760MP8 GPU.

Memory

Both phones do not have memory slots, so users will have to settle for the internal memory for all their storage needs. In terms of RAM, each has 3 GB onboard.

Camera

The S6 Active and Galaxy S6 come with a 16 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization.

Battery

The battery on the Galaxy S6 Active is a 3500 mAh version while the Galaxy S6 has a much smaller 2550 mAh version.
