The Galaxy S6 Edge is undoubtedly one of the best phablets of the year. It comes with an extremely eye-catching design thanks to its unique curved screen, however, there are other pretty remarkabe devices available in the market that have the capacity to take on the Samsung device, one of which is the Huawei Mate S.

Design

The S6 Edge has better looks thanks to its curved screen that flows over its right and left edges. One of these edges can be customized to display five important apps and five contacts, along with a night clock, notifications and alerts. As for its design, it has a metal frame and its front and back are covered with polished Gorilla Glass 4. There is also a fingerprint scanner onboard and it comes in four colors, silver, gold, black and white. As for the Mate S, it has a full metal body which gives it better durability but it looks just like any other smartphone. It also has a fingerprint scanner but its version is located at its rear, just below the camera. As for colors there are three options to choose from, gold, champagne and gray.

Display

The 5.7-inch super AMOLED screen of the S6 Edge is slightly bigger and it is denser with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 518 pixels per inch. As for the Huawei Mate S, only its highest variant comes with Pressure Sensing technology. Its AMOLED screen measures 5.5 inches and comes with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 401 pixels per inch.

Specs

In the Mate S, there is a HiSilicon Kirin 935 chipset that is coupled with an octa-core CPU comprised of four cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and four clocked at 1.5 GHz along with a Mali-T628 MP4 GPU. As for the S6 Edge , it as a faster Exynos 7420 chipset coupled with an octa-core CPU, consisting of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz along with a Mali-T760MP8 GPU.

Memory

The S6 Edge is devoid of a memory slot and it is one of its disadvantages. The Mate S, on the other hand, has a SIM 2 slot, which can be used to expand its storage to up to 128 GB. Comparing their RAM, the device from Samsung leads with 4 GB and the Mate S has 3 GB.

Price

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus costs $299 with a standard two-year contract, while the Huawei Mate S costs around $650, unlocked.
