Galaxy S6 Edge vs iPhone 6: The curved screen device is prettier and offers more power

In terms of looks and power the latest flagship smartphone from Samsung the S6 Edge outshines the iPhone 6. Here is how the two compare.

Design

Comparing their design it is clear that the S6 Edge is superior as its stunning screen has dual curved edges that flow over its right and left side. One of the edges can be customized to display five important contacts and their images, and whenever one of them calls the edge will light up with their color if the phone is lying on its screen. Also displayed on the edge are news alerts and a night clock. As for the build of the phone it has a metal frame that is coupled with Gorilla Glass 4 on its back panel. The iPhone 6 on the other hand has a metal unibody and chamfered edges which gives it a premium appearance but otherwise it looks like any other smartphone. Finally both devices come with fingerprint sensors.

Display

The display on the iPhone 6 is smaller and quality wise too it lags behind its competitor. Comparing the two, the S6 Edge has a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 577 pixels per inch. As for the iPhone 6 it has an IPS LCD screen measuring 4.7 inches with a resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels and density of 326 pixels per inch.

Specs

As the S6 Edge released recently, it is no surprise that it has better hardware in the form of an Exynos 7420 chipset, a CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and a Mali-T760MP8 GPU. As for the iPhone 6 it comes with an Apple A8 chipset, a CPU with two cores clocked at 1.4 GHz and a PowerVR GX6450 GPU.

Memory

The S6 Edge and iPhone 6 do not have memory slots and so external storage cannot be added. However, when it comes to RAM, the device from Apple has 1 GB while the S6 Edge has 3 GB.

Camera

The camera on the iPhone 6 is an 8 megapixel version, while the S6 Edge has a better 16 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization.

Price

The 32 GB S6 Edge is priced at $299 with a two year contract, while the iPhone 6 costs $199 with a similar contract.
