Many game developers today are now turning their heads away from the classic single-player campaign. A perfect example for this is DICE's recently launched first-person shooter game "Star Wars: Battlefront." With that in mind, some fans have been wondering why these developers have changed their path. Luckily, though, "Gears of War" franchise creator, Cliff Bleszinski, has recently offered some explanation for this sudden shift during his interview with PC Gamer.

According to Bleszinski, the main factor behind why developers have recently shifted their attention from the single-player campaign is due to the massive cost for its production. "They usually cost 75 percent of the budget," the game franchise creator said via PC Gamer. "And you burn through the campaign in a weekend, and then [players] go to multiplayer."

As for the upcoming game, "Gears of War 4," last year reports have already revealed that it will come with a campaign mode but instead of a four-player mission, the sequel to "Gears of War 3" will need two players to finish the narrative, according to The Coalition studio head, Rod Fergusson during his interview with IGN.

"We're going back to something personal, intimate, dark, and mysterious, being afraid of the boogeyman," Fergusson explained.

Meanwhile, as for the other details of "Gears of War 4," Bleszinski has recently teased the fans about the narrative of the upcoming sequel through his Twitter account. Unfortunately, the franchise creator did not exactly go into details or any specifics regarding the storyline, due to obvious reasons.

"Gears of War 4" is set to come out sometime this 2016. The game is being developed by The Coalition, formerly known as Black Tusk Studios, and it is set to be published by Microsoft, which makes it an exclusive IP for the company's current-gen console Xbox One. More news regarding its launch will probably emerge in the coming months.
